PJ Proby
1964. Brought to England via top producer Jack Good to appear on Round the Beatles TV spectacular he stormed the charts with his first single 'Hold Me' and followed that with 12 chart hits up to 1966.
After a series of infamous trouser-splitting incidents he was fired from the Cilla Black show but stayed busy during the 60's and 70's with leading roles in the West End and Las Vagas.
Battling a growing alcohol problem during the 80's he gave up booze in 1992 and has not drank since.
With triumphant appearances in several West End musicals including 'Good Rockin' Tonite', 'Only the Lonely' and 'Elvis the Musical' Proby recorded an album with Marc Almond in 1996 and following a successful world tour with The Who, continues to work steadily, selling out venues and rebuilding his career.
