Ted Robbins
Phoenix Nights & The Slammer

Ted Robbins (born 1956) is an English comedian and actor.

Robbins was born in Liverpool, Lancashire. He is the brother of Kate, Emma, Amy and Jane Robbins, and also second cousin of Paul McCartney,. He achieved a Bachelor of Arts degree in English and Drama from Liverpool University.

A career in theatre and television has seen him play many parts as well as starring with his sister Kate in shows on ITV, and presenting quiz and gameshows such as Quiz Night, Bratpack, and Chain Letters.

He provided the voices for Catchphrase from 1994 - 1999.

He also appeared in Matt Lucas and David Walliams' Rock the Blind, a spin off from the series Rock Profile, as Pete Waterman and Gary Barlow's room mate "Spud". Robbins later appeared in Little Britain playing a semi-autobiographical character as Paul McCartney's cousin. He has also been in two episodes of Two Pints of Lager and a Packet of Crisps.

Generally recognised as one of the top TV warm-up studio hosts in the country, Ted has recently been returning to dramatic ways with appearances in Holby City, Merseybeat, Doctors, Brookside, Lead Balloon, and is universally hated as the man who burned down the Phoenix club - Den Perry - in Peter Kay's Phoenix Nights. Ted Robbins also appeared in the 'Beetleman' episode of Chucklevision.

Ted married an Accrington girl, Judy, and they live in Crawshawbooth in Rossendale, Lancashire, with their two children, Jack and Molly. He presents a morning show on BBC Radio Lancashire from 9am - 11am on weekdays and can now be seen as the Governor in CBBC's comedy show The Slammer, in a role somewhat similar to (and no doubt partly inspired by) his Den Perry character from Phoenix Nights. He guest starred on another CBBC show, Prank Patrol, as a judge in a talent show prank, and appears as the crazy brother of Ross in the CBBC show 'The Chute'.

In the 1990s, Ted contributed to The Railway Stories by narrating audiobook adaptations of the books written by Christopher Awdry, featuring Thomas the Tank Engine and the other engines on the Island of Sodor.

Ted appeared on the game show Identity on BBC2 on 11 September 2007 with the identity "TV Comedy Star".

Ted is often referred to in the popular comic Viz with regard to his Paul McCartney connection.
